On this 12-day wildlife tour you will visit the Colombian Amazon rainforest, you will visit a Nature Reserve in Peru and go spot pink and grey dolphins in the Tarapoto Lake, next to the Amazon River.
You will discover the city of Medellin, nowadays one of the most innovative metropolises in the world, from where you will fly to Nuquí on the Colombian Pacific coast, where you will explore the nature and wildlife of this still undiscovered coastline. Best time to visit the Pacific coast for whale-watching are the months July to September.

Your driver and English speaking guide will pick you up from the airport to bring you to your hotel in town. On the way to the hotel, your guide, will give you all the tips and recommendations you need to get the most out of your stay in Colombia.

Stroll through the cobblestone streets of La Candelaria and the city center and discover its bohemian cafes, art galleries and its people and their stories. Embark on a visit to some of Bogota’s most important museums, the Botero Museum and the world-famous Museo del Oro (Museum of Gold). Visit also La Quinta de Bolivar, the house used by Simon Bolivar after the independence war and the main plaza called Plaza de Bolivar. Then visit Monserrate mountain, from where you will have amazing views over the city. The sanctuary of Monserrate in the eastern hills of Bogotá can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. Devotees walk up an almost 2-mile path to this site of pilgrimage, which began in 1620 with the shrine of Our Lady of Monserrate. The basilica houses the image of the Fallen Lord of Monserrate and at the top visitors can walk the Stations of the Cross.
You will have the afternoon free to explore the city on your own.

After an early breakfast your driver will bring you to the airport in time for your domestic flight to Leticia, the capital of the Amazon in Colombia.
Upon arrival in Leticia, your local and english-speaking guide will take you to the port of Leticia for your boat transfer to the Marasha Nature Reserve in Peru. You will either walk for approximately 1 hour or, in high-water season, will be commuting on a small boat, until reaching the Reserve´s facilities. On this walk/boat ride, you will learn more about the beautiful centenary trees: Ceiba, Capinuri and Chuchuaza.
After lunch at the Nature Reserve you can try yourself at traditional Piranha fishing, bird watching, canoeing or kayaking and head out in the evening for some caiman spotting.

After breakfast, you can go kayaking and admire the Victoria Regia, a giant Amazon Lotus, or you could look for monkeys, different kinds of birds or go piranha fishing.
In the evening, you can go on a night walk, exploring the rainforest in darkness.

After breakfast, you will head to the Calanoa Jungle Lodge in a shared boat (approx. 60 minutes). After a delicious lunch at the lodge, you will visit the Mocagua community and the Miqueando project where you learn more about the great work they do. They are helping captured and injured primates to recover and get ready to return to the wild. The project is supported by the Sarah Beneth’s Foundation and works with the indigenous community of Mocagua.
In the afternoon you will go on a jungle walk and a boat ride down the Matamata creek, the natural limit with the Amacayacu Park (approx. 30 minutes). Upon return to the lodge get ready for a quiet rest.

After breakfast, you will go on a boat to the village Puerto Nariño, a town on the shore of the Amazon River, where you will have time for a walk. After lunch you will continue by boat for a wildlife-watching excursion on the Tarapoto Lake. You will look out for pink dolphins and exotic birds, and will have the opportunity to try yourself at traditional fishing. You will arrive back at the lodge in the late afternoon.
After dinner, you you will explore the rainforest at night and get the chance to experience a fully different environment.

After breakfast, you will take the local boat down the Amazon River to Leticia. Your driver will bring you to the airport in time for your flight to Medellin with a stopover in Bogota.
Once you arrive in Medellin your driver will bring you to your hotel and you will have the rest of the afternoon free.

Today you will learn more about the transformation of the city. You will dive into its history and understand its present better. You will talk about the role Pablo Escobar had, about the danger and struggle and will learn how local politicians started to invest heavily in the infrastructure and public education of the city helping to create the “City of Eternal Spring” and one of the most innovative metropolises in the world of today.

After breakfast your driver will bring you to the airport for your flight to the pacific ocean. You will be welcomed at the Nuqui airport and brought to the Ecolodge, where you will be staying for the next few days.

Today, you will go on a whale watching tour (Note: whale season is from July to September). Humpback whales come to the Colombian pacific to give birth to their calves and remain here until October, when they are grown enough and ready to migrate along with the mothers. Enjoy of the exciting sound whales make when they breath and of the playful calves jumping out of the water.

After breakfast you can hike to Rio Terco. Along the way your local guide will explain how the local communities use some plants and trees for medicinal purposes. Admire the variety of fauna found such as toucans, crabs, spiders, howling monkeys, butterflies among others. Have a short bath in the waterfall before going back to the hotel.

After breakfast your driver will bring you to the airport for your flight to EOH airport in Medellin. Once in Medellin you will be transferred to the main airport for your flight to Bogota.
